I saw a picture of the Belogradchik Fortress on a computer screen saver & decided it was a place I would add to my bucket list as a place to visit. I let my fingers type 'Belogradchik Fortress' into Google to learn more about it & find out where it was. I now hope I can someday organise a trip & visit it myself.

Kaleto Fortress, Belogradchik.

The Kaleto Fortress is an ancient fortress located on the north slopes of the Balkan Mountains, close to the northwestern Bulgarian town of Belogradchik & is one of the best-preserved strongholds in Bulgaria. The fortress walls are over 2 metres thick in the foundation & reach up to 12 metres in height. There are three separate fortified yards that are connected with each other through gates. The fortress has a total area of 10,210 square metres.
