Walk the Great Wall of China.
As a small boy, I was fascinated by Marco Polo and have always been interested in visiting China. One of the things I wanted to do if I visited China was to walk a section of the Great Wall of China. The pictures of it that I had seen on the television, in magazines books & on the internet always made it look like a great place to visit.
Once again after speaking to my doctor, who told me that if I wanted to go to the Great Wall of China, I needed to do it sooner rather than later, I booked a tour of China. This tour of China was fantastic and my visit to the Great Wall of China really was a great experience and one I can recommend to anyone.
We were taken to the base of the Great Wall where we parked & were given bottled water. To get to the wall itself there is what looks like a ski lift that runs from the parking area at the base to the top of the wall. Once at the top of the wall, we were given time to explore ourselves before being told to meet up again at the base. I did manage to walk a fair distance with the two girls I was with, Mel & Tracy. The view from the top was amazing.
I will say that the section I visited was very steep & is not for the faint-hearted. There was one section at the first tower that was so steep that I went down on my bum. I felt very foolish until I realised that I wasn't the only one doing it & that some people didn't do it at all. I was lucky to be on an escorted tour when I made my trip here & everything was planned out for us.
