Alan Morris at Machu Picchu.

Visit Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu was one of the places my dad always wanted to go and never went to because of ill health. Because of my dad, I started looking into going to Machu Picchu to see what it was, where it was & why it was he wanted to go there.

After looking on the Internet at it, I began to think I would like to one day go there myself and after my dad died I decided I would go before my health prevented me from going. In this way, we both went me in body & my dad with my memories of him.

It was a place that I think should be on everyone's bucket list a supremely spiritual place that will enrich the lives of anyone that goes there. A place that I can now cross off of my bucket list. My trip to Machu Picchu was the reason for my vacation to Peru & the day of my visit I was very excited.

We left our coach a fair distance from Machu Picchu & travelled by train to the base station. Here we took a small coach to the visitor centre at the top of the mountain. We were taken on a guided tour of Machu Picchu & given some time to explore ourselves. The highlight for me was getting to the point on the mountain that is always shown on postcards & travel programs on television. Here I posed for a photograph & thought of my dad, I hope that he was looking down on me & I believe through me he did finally get to visit this mystical place.
