Chilli con carne ingredients.

I had a look at several recipes & couldn't decide which to use so I mixed & matched & came up with my own Chilli con Carne recipe.

Chilli Con Carne.

This made enough for six portions of chilly. I wouldn't say it is really hot as I prefer taste overheat but it will warm you up on a cold night. This chilli recipe is great with homemade chips or rice, I have tried it with both.

Ingredients.

500 g of minced beef.

450 g of kidney beans rinsed and drained (I prepared mine from dry beans the previous day).

1 can of diced tomatoes, drained.

225 g of tomato sauce.

1 chopped red onion.

1 chopped green pepper.

1tsp of minced garlic.

1tbs of chilli powder.

1tsp of cayenne pepper.

1tsp of salt.

1tsp ground black pepper.

Instructions.

  1. Brown off the mince in a large pan over medium heat.  It should be crumbly and have no pink colour left.
  2. Discard the excess fat.
  3. Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker, stir together and mix up before covering.
  4. Heat on low for 6 hours.
  5. When serving garnish with some grated cheese, any type will do I used parmesan as I had some available.
