Location: Rio de Janeiro → Madrid → Los Alcázares
Summary: Your final days in Brazil, visits to iconic Rio landmarks, a smooth journey home, and a quiet return to Los Alcázares where a cold and exhaustion caught up with you after the long trip.
Monday, 27th November
Today was my first full day in Brazil. My leg was aching a bit, so I stayed around the hotel or sat on Copacabana Beach opposite. It was a relaxing day, enjoying the atmosphere without doing too much walking.
Tuesday, 28th November
Today, Gail and I booked a taxi to visit the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens. It was a peaceful and beautiful place to explore, full of tropical plants and shaded paths.
Wednesday, 29th November
Today, Gail and I went on a guided tour to see two of Rio’s most famous landmarks, the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain. Both were spectacular, and the views were incredible.
Thursday, 30th November
Today was our last full day in Brazil. I spent the day on or around Copacabana Beach, enjoying the sunshine and the final hours of the holiday.
Friday, 1st December
Today was the day I left Rio de Janeiro to fly back to Madrid. A long journey ahead, but the holiday had been fantastic.
Saturday, 2nd December
I arrived back in Madrid today. I said goodbye to Gail at the airport as she flew home. I caught a train back to Torre Pacheco, where June picked me up and took me back to my apartment. It was good to be home.
Sunday, 3rd December
Today was spent recovering after my holiday. I woke around 10:00 with a cold and had to start taking tablets for a cough. I put washing in the machine, unpacked my case and slowly settled back into being home.
In the afternoon, I watched some TV and football but spent most of the time asleep on the sofa under a blanket. I went to bed around 22:00, still feeling rough.
