Summary: A week of deliveries, lunches out, long chats with friends, new boots, binge‑worthy TV, website work and more Premier League drama. A busy and enjoyable start to March.
Monday, 4th March
I woke around 07:00, had coffee and worked on my computer while waiting for my Amazon delivery. My new mini video camera finally arrived late in the afternoon. I unpacked it, checked everything was there and put the battery handle on charge. My eyes were sore, so I left learning how to use it for another day.
In the evening, I watched Sheffield United vs Arsenal. I had predicted Arsenal would score in the 5th minute and win 0–8. I was close. Arsenal scored in the 5th minute and led 0–5 at half time. The second half was quieter, but they still won 0–6. Seven Premier League games this year, 31 goals scored and only 3 conceded. I went to bed a very happy Gooner at 23:00.
Tuesday, 5th March
I woke just after 07:00, had coffee and worked on removing out‑of‑date URLs from Google. At 10:00, I collected a parcel from a local pick‑up point.
At 11:45, I headed to Los Narejos to meet Martin at La Sombre Pizzeria. Kate joined us. When Aria’s school bus arrived, I went to collect her. The bus attendant asked who I was, but Aria immediately told her she knew me and took my hand. We walked back to the table and chatted for a while before leaving.
On the way home, I bumped into Andy Leigh and arranged to meet him at Rocco’s. I sat with Dave and others until Andy arrived. I bought us both a beer and something to eat, and we chatted for a while. As I passed La Petit Bistro, Jasmine called me over for a chat before I went to Harry’s Bar for a quick beer.
Back home, I cooked dinner, watched TV and went to bed.
Wednesday, 6th March
I woke at 08:00, had coffee and cereal and worked on my computer all morning. After a sandwich at lunchtime, I spent the afternoon and evening adding photos to my website.
Thursday, 7th March
I woke at 07:00 expecting a delivery, but it had not reached the depot yet. At 10:30, I met Liz at Buena Vista for coffee. We chatted until midday.
My delivery finally arrived around 16:00. After checking the parcel, I watched some tutorials on how to use my new video camera. In the evening, I finished watching Mr Mercedes. I guessed the ending, but not until the final episode. It was excellent.
Friday, 8th March
I woke at 05:30 and worked on my computer until meeting Tony at Buena Vista. We talked for a few hours before returning to my apartment. Tony collected the books he wanted back, and I donated the rest to the Time4AChange book swap.
I bought croissants and ham from Dia for lunch and worked on my website until 17:30, when I got ready for dinner with Jim.
Jim picked me up at 18:20, and we met Dave and Jayne at Roda Bar. Dave and Doreen joined us too. After drinks, we went to Campbell’s for dinner. I had steak and chips with mushrooms, spinach and pepper sauce, followed by Bailey’s cheesecake after Lauren twisted my arm.
After dinner, Jim dropped me home. I stayed up until 02:30 to watch Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou. Joshua knocked Ngannou out in the second round after dropping him twice earlier. Thankfully, Ngannou recovered.
Saturday, 9th March
I woke at 07:30, went back to sleep and finally got up at 09:00. After coffee and cereal, I worked on my computer. For lunch, I had a homemade pie from Martin.
In the afternoon, I watched football before settling in for Arsenal vs Brentford. Just before kick‑off, my delivery arrived, left on my doormat without the driver ringing the buzzer or knocking.
Arsenal led 1–0 until Ramsdale made a terrible mistake just before half time, gifting Brentford a goal. The second half was tougher, but Kai Havertz scored again and Arsenal won 2–1, taking them to the top of the Premier League.
I watched MOTD to see the game again before going to bed.
Sunday, 10th March
I woke at 08:00 with a slight headache. After coffee, I checked my messages and found one from KLM saying my first flight from Madrid to Amsterdam had been cancelled. Because NCL booked the flights, they must rearrange them. I emailed them, but no one works in the flight department on Sundays.
At 10:40, I met Liz and we walked to Buena Vista for coffee and tostada. Back home, I discovered the NCL email address was no longer in use, so I will have to phone them on Monday.
For lunch, I had another of Martin’s pies and left the last one for the evening. In the afternoon, I added many tags to my photo albums to make it easier to display selected images on my website.
In the evening, I watched Liverpool vs Manchester City. A win for either team would have put them top, so I was delighted it finished 1–1, keeping Arsenal at the top of the Premier League. I had a couple of San Miguel Radlers to celebrate and then worked on my website until MOTD came on. I went to bed afterwards.
