Location: Alaska → Vancouver → Madrid → Los Alcázares
Summary: The final week of your cruise adventure, travelling from Alaska to Canada and then all the way back to Spain. A return to normal life filled with jet lag, washing, website work, football, and immediately planning your next trip.
Monday, 6th May
I woke up in Ketchikan, Alaska, and joined an escorted tour of the Tongass National Forest. The scenery was beautiful, and it was a great final excursion before the cruise began its journey south.
Tuesday, 7th May
Today was my last full day onboard the NCL Spirit as it sailed towards Vancouver. A quiet day to relax and enjoy the final moments of the cruise.
Wednesday, 8th May
I arrived in Vancouver, Canada. I left the NCL Spirit and began the long journey home to Los Alcázares.
Thursday, 9th May
I arrived back in Madrid today after the long journey from Canada. I felt tired and ready for rest.
Friday, 10th May
I woke early in Madrid and began my journey home to Los Alcázares.
Saturday, 11th May
Because I went to sleep so early yesterday and my body clock still hadn’t reset, I woke at around 01:00. Unable to get back to sleep, I put some holiday washing in the machine, made coffee and cereal, and sat at my computer.
I updated the administration side of my website, indexed pages on Google Search and began catching up on three weeks of journal entries. I also started adding details of my NCL Spirit cruise to the website.
This afternoon, I fell asleep in my armchair for about five hours before going to bed early. The time zone changes had finally caught up with me.
Sunday, 12th May
I slept well and woke around 09:00, but I seemed to have picked up a chesty cough. I always feel rough after long‑distance travel and usually end up with a cough or a bug.
I went to Buena Vista for breakfast and coffee at 09:30 and met Lisa there. We chatted about my holiday and places we’d like to visit. We both agreed that Marrakech would be a great option because the flights were so cheap.
Back home, I washed more holiday clothes and watched the Manchester United vs Arsenal game. Arsenal didn’t play well but won 0–1, putting them back on top of the Premier League, although Manchester City still have a game in hand.
Later, Lisa messaged to say the flights to Marrakech were cheap. After a bit of discussion, we booked them for June. I now have something new to look forward to. There’s no stopping me when it comes to travel.
When I went to bed, I fell asleep immediately. The jet lag still hadn’t left me, and the excitement of planning another trip so soon after returning from the last one left me exhausted.
