Location: Los Alcázares, Murcia, Spain
Summary: This week I returned home from Japan, battled jet lag and a horrible cold, unpacked slowly, caught up on sleep and started sorting through hundreds of holiday photos. I also met friends for coffee, dealt with banking issues, ordered new household items and gradually settled back into my normal routine.
Monday, 21st October
Today, I left Tokyo and began my long journey home to Spain.
Tuesday, 22nd October
I landed back in Madrid after a very long journey from Tokyo. I spent the morning in Madrid airport before catching my flight to Alicante at 15:15. June was waiting for me and drove me home. I took my luggage inside, got a big glass of water and fell asleep in my armchair within minutes.
I woke at 20:00 with very sore, red eyes. It looked like I had gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson. I drank more water and went to bed.
Wednesday, 23rd October
I woke at 08:00 with a cold that I must have brought back from Japan. My nose was blocked, my eyes were swollen and sore and I had dark bags under my eyes. I checked emails and struggled through Wordle.
Around midday, I went to the pharmacy for my regular tablets and some Ilvico for the cold. I also picked up milk, cereal and croissants from Dia. Back home, I had cereal and later cooked ribs for lunch.
I spent the afternoon downloading all my holiday photos and videos. I had croissants with ham for supper, watched TV and fell asleep at 18:00. I woke an hour later and went to bed at 22:00.
Thursday, 24th October
I woke at 05:00, went back to bed and woke again at 08:00 feeling better. The cold tablets were working. I had cereal and coffee, did Wordle and started updating my journal and writing the Japan section for my website.
I worked on my Japan photos, choosing which ones to use. By early afternoon, my eyes were sore again, so I stopped. I tried to stay awake to adjust to Spanish time and went to bed at 21:00.
Friday, 25th October
I woke at 07:00, had coffee and did Wordle before working on my holiday photos. Jim messaged and suggested coffee at Buena Vista, so I met him at 10:00. We chatted for an hour and agreed to meet again next week.
Back home, I called Nationwide. The new PIN they sent me did not work because the card had been locked. The man who sent the PIN should have sent a new card as well. The lady I spoke to arranged for both to be sent, but it will take two weeks.
I added Tokyo photos to my website, then had two beef burgers on toast with melted cheese for dinner. I emailed Fain about the lift not going down to the garage. After dinner, I ordered new fitted sheets, a new walking stick, a casserole pan, tapioca pearls and bulk toilet rolls from Amazon.
I charged my disability scooter ready for tomorrow and watched TV until bed.
Saturday, 26th October
I woke at 07:00 feeling a bit better. I did Wordle, put washing on and went out early on my scooter to get groceries before my deliveries arrived.
When I got home, the Fain engineer arrived to fix the lift. He found a loose connection in the lock and repaired it quickly. I was relieved I could reach the garage again without walking around the building.
My Amazon deliveries arrived. I put the toilet rolls away, tried my new walking stick and was pleased with it. I put the new fitted sheet on my bed and was happy with the fit and colour.
I watched Brentford vs Ipswich because I had Mbeumo as my Fantasy Football captain. He scored twice in a 4-3 win. Later, I used Ancestry’s tools to fix duplicates and errors in my tree. My eyes were still sore, so I went to bed at 21:30.
Sunday, 27th October
I woke at 07:00, had cereal and coffee and did Wordle. I put more washing on and ran the dishwasher. It was cooler today, so I wore a cardigan while working on my website.
It started pouring with rain, and large puddles formed outside. At 14:30, I had chicken and salad for lunch. I spent the afternoon doing genealogy until the Chelsea vs Newcastle match started.
I then watched Arsenal vs Liverpool. Arsenal led 1-0, Liverpool equalised, Arsenal scored again before halftime and Liverpool equalised in the second half. I was too nervous to watch the whole match and kept flicking channels. The game finished 2-2. Unfortunately, Gabriel Magalhães went off injured.
In the evening, I ordered more bedsheets and pillowcases from Amazon, watched TV and went to bed at 23:00.
