Journal: Week 45 2024

Location: Los Alcázares, Murcia, Spain

Summary: This week I settled back into my routine, donated clothes for the Valencia flood appeal, spent time with friends, worked on my website and Japan photos, and booked more travel. I also battled tiredness, back pain and cold weather, but still managed a great curry night and plenty of football.

Monday, 4th November

I woke at 07:00, got up straight away and made myself a lovely breakfast of Spanish tortilla, bacon, beans and mushrooms. After coffee and Wordle, I worked on my website until 11:00.

I loaded three bags of clothes, linen, shoes and a walking stick onto my disability scooter and took them to the council’s collection point in Los Narejos for the Valencia flood appeal. Afterwards, I went to the ASSSA office and asked Sofia to arrange my Flu and Covid booster jabs.

I met Martin and Dave at La Sombre. It was busy, and several others joined us. When Aria arrived, we all left. Back home, I planned to cook a chicken stir fry but fell asleep and didn’t wake until 23:30. I went straight back to bed.

Tuesday, 5th November

I woke at 05:30 and got up at 06:15. After coffee, Wordle and breakfast, I worked on my website and typed up more Japan notes. I met Martin just before midday and stayed until Aria arrived.

Afterwards, I went to J&G Cocktail Bar and chatted with friends before going home for a siesta. In the evening, I edited more photos and went to bed at 22:00.

Wednesday, 6th November

After coffee and Wordle, I edited more photos. Lisa messaged and asked if I wanted to meet for coffee. We walked to Alaska Bar for coffee and tostadas, then went to J&G Cocktail Bar and stayed for hours talking about our holidays and future trips.

We took a taxi to Roda for food and chatted with some of Lisa’s friends. I went back to Lisa’s to watch the Arsenal match but fell asleep before it started.

Thursday, 7th November

I woke up and checked the Arsenal score. They had lost again, so I was glad I missed it. Lisa drove me home. My apartment was freezing, so I put the heating on and sat under a blanket in my massage chair. My back was killing me from Lisa’s sofa, so I used Deep Freeze and painkillers.

I had planned to meet Steve and Mandy, but my scooter battery was low and the lift was being repaired, so I rearranged. I slept most of the afternoon in the massage chair and watched TV until bed at 22:00.

Friday, 8th November

I felt much better this morning. After coffee and updating Joomla, I rode along the beach on my scooter. I went to the pharmacy for my regular tablets, a Vicks spray and some Ilvico for future colds.

I stopped at the Indian shop for tortilla wraps and potatoes, then went home for a ham sandwich. After an hour of website work, I had another massage and watched TV. I have been watching McDonald and Dobbs, which is brilliant, funny and emotional.

Saturday, 9th November

I woke at 06:00, fell asleep again and got up at 08:30. After coffee, Wordle and a protein shake, I washed clothes and worked on photos all day. I had homemade cottage pie for lunch and chicken with sweet chilli pepper tortillas for dinner.

I watched football in the evening and went to bed at 22:00.

Sunday, 10th November

I woke at 08:00, had cereal and coffee and did Wordle. For breakfast, I had bacon, beans, mushrooms and Spanish tortilla with green tea. I spent the morning adding more Japan photos to my website.

I had chicken and salad for lunch, then watched football while doing genealogy. I cheered for Tottenham and Manchester United to help Arsenal, but Arsenal still dropped from third to fifth.

I watched TV in the evening and went to bed at 22:00. I seem to be going to bed early a lot lately. I hope my mojo returns soon.
