Pig cheek recipe ingredients

Pig Cheeks.

Ingredients.

  • 4 pig cheeks.
  • 150 grams of bacon bits.
  • 250 grams of mushrooms.
  • 1 tablespoon of plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  • 150 millilitres of red wine.

Instructions.

  1. Lightly cover the pig's cheeks in flour, & sprinkle with salt & pepper to taste. Set aside for later.
  2. Heat a frying pan & add bacon bits, heat for a few minutes until sizzling.
  3. Add the chopped onion & heat until brown & soft.
  4. Add mushrooms & heat until softened.
  5. Set aside bacon bits, onion & mushrooms.
  6. Heat the olive oil in the frying pan & lightly brown the pork cheeks.
  7. Add back the bacon bits, onion, & mushrooms.
  8. Pour over the red wine & heat, stirring until the wine is boiling.
  9. Transfer everything to the slow cooker & top up with enough water so that everything is just covered.
  10. Heat on low for 2 ½ hours.

I served mine with mashed potato & mixed veg.
