My trip to China in 2014.
In 2014 I went on an escorted tour of China with the JustYou travel company. It was my first time in China or Asia but I had a great time. These blogs are all about my travel in China, about the places that I visited, the things I saw & the people I met in China.
Traveling to China.
My holiday to China began early in the morning wen my friend Tony picked me up from my home in Fareham to take me to Gatwick airport to get an Air China flight to Beijing.

We arrived in Beijing at about 6:50 am and getting through immigration was easy. This was a huge but very well run airport.

The Great Wall of China.
We had an early start this morning, with a 6:30 alarm call, which I missed as I was already in the shower. Breakfast was a buffet breakfast with both English & Chinese items. I loved the waffles with fruit, whipped cream, honey & cinnamon sugar, but forced myself to try a full English, an omelette and several glasses of orange juice.

Xi'an City.
After the now obligatory huge breakfast we are transferred by coach to the airport for our flight to Xian. I am surprised to discover that although the plane we are flying on internally is smaller than the plane we flew to China on, it has more leg room on it.

Terracotta Army.
Today we will be going to see Emperor Qin's Terracotta Army, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, trying our hand at making dumplings before having a dumpling dinner and then seeing a Tang Dynasty folklore show. Before all the excitement begins I have a large breakfast to set me up for the day, you never know when you may not eat for a while.

Xian to Chengdu.
After a late breakfast we drive to the airport where we catch our flight to Chengdu. By the time we arrive in Chengdu a couple of hours later everybody is starving as breakfast on the flight wasn't that filling & barely topped up our large breakfast buffet from earlier.

Today we are going to one of the places that I have been looking forward to visiting, the Giant Leshan Buddha. To make sure I have enough strength for the day I fill up at the all you can eat breakfast buffet before we all board the coach for our trip.

Giant Pandas.
Another big highlight of the trip today. Before we move on to Shanghai we will be visiting the Chengdu Panda Breeding & Research Centre. I think everyone on the trip has been looking forward to this visit. As we are travelling we have no idea how long it will be before we eat again so we all tuck in to a hearty breakfast in the hotel before boarding the coach for our trip to see the Panda.

Journey Home.
We eventually arrived in Beijing & then get held up waiting for our shuttle from the internal terminal to the international terminal. By the time we get to our gate they are boarding already and its not long before we are airborne again & on our way home. Once again I notice that although the plane for the long flight home is larger the room we have in our seats is less than it was for the internal flights.
