Summary: A long journey after the escorted tour ended led me to Yichang and the Yangtze River for the cruise section of my China trip.
Arrival in Yichang
This evening, we arrived in Yichang aboard the train. We were met by a coach and transferred to the Yangtze River for the cruise add-on part of our Chinese adventure.
When we arrived at our cruise ship we were greeted by a band playing as we boarded, it immediately set the tone for the next few days. The welcome was warm and lively, and after being led across a couple of other ships, we finally stepped onto the Victoria Selina, our home on the Yangtze River.
Once checked in, we headed to our rooms to relax before going downstairs for the buffet dinner. At that point, we were the only passengers on board, which made the ship feel strangely quiet and almost private. Before turning in for the night, I joined Mike and Ewen at the bar for a cocktail. The calm didnโt last long; by the next morning, the ship felt very different.
