This short break to Marrakech began with a smooth flight from Corvera and an easy arrival in the Medina, where our Riad became the base for exploring the city’s markets, historic alleys and vibrant street life.
Marrakech, Morroco: Short Trip
I was sitting at the Buena Vista bar on the Mar Menor in Los Alcazares, with my friend Lisa having lunch and chatting about the different places we had both been and started talking about going away together for a short trip to Marrakech, Morocco. Within a couple of days we had planned the trip, booked the trip and were going away within a couple of weeks.
Today was a full, colourful day in Marrakech, breakfast in the Riad, an early wander through the calm Jardin Majorelle, then hours getting happily lost in the medina’s souks, cafés and narrow streets. We stopped for mint tea, found a peaceful courtyard for lunch, rested near the Kutubiyya Mosque, and eventually made it back to the Riad exhausted but happy. A day of colour, noise, history and the small moments that make Marrakech unforgettable.
This was one of the most memorable days of the trip, starting long before sunrise with a hot‑air balloon flight over the desert, then spending the rest of the day wandering through the medina, getting lost, haggling, resting in cafés, and soaking up the heat, colour and chaos of Marrakech. It was exhausting, unforgettable, and full of the small moments that make travelling here so special.
