Benjamin Morris was my great-grandfather, he died 15 years before I was born.

Benjamin Morris was born on 4 July 1887, in Aberporth, Cardigan, Wales. His mother, Maria Davies registered his birth in August 1887. His father, Daniel Morris, profession on the birth certificate was an Agricultural labourer.

Benjamin Morris got married to Margaret Jane Wylde at the Registry Office in Bridgend, Glamorgan, Wales. They got married on November 9th 1909. The wedding certificate shows that Benjamin was living in Cadogan Terrace, Nant-y-moel, Glamorgan, Wales. His profession was entered as a Coal Miner, as was his father Daniel Morris.

The two witnesses on the wedding certificate were Lily Martha Rees & Catherine A Cox.

Criminal Case 452208a.

Whilst looking at one of the Genealogy websites I discovered that some of my relatives, had a criminal record. On 16 October 1923, they were committed & bailed from the court in Cardigan, Cardiganshire, Wales. They surrendered themselves to court again on the 6th & 7th of November 1923.

The Offence.

Between 26 December 1922 & 19 February 1923 at the Parish of Tremain & diverse other places, did conspire, combine, confederate & agree together, by diverse false pretences, means & devices, to obtain from Margaret Davies, Elizabeth Ann Jones & John Davies, certain sums of money & in pursuance thereof did obtain certain sums of money, with intent to cheat & defraud.

The Sentence.

My relatives were Tried before Commissioner A J Ashton, KC, on the 6th, 7th & 8th of November 1923 & all were found guilty.
