We didn't spend much time at the San Diego Zoo, and for that, I was grateful. At the time of our visit, the zoo looked very old and, in my opinion, needed to be closed.
The pens that the animals are in are too small. Many of the animals looked as if they were going stir-crazy, pacing up and down in their small enclosures.
This zoo is not comparable to Busch Gardens or Animal Kingdom in Florida. In those places, the animals look like they are in more congenial surroundings and have much more room.
During our brief stay, we had a quick guided walk through the zoo and went on the overhead cable car ride over the animal enclosures.
