Alan Morris at Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu was one of the places my dad always wanted to go & never went to because of ill health. Because of my dad, I started looking into going to Machu Picchu to see what it was, where it was & why he wanted to go there.

Visit Machu Picchu.

After looking on the Internet, I began to think I would like to one day go to Machu Picchu myself & after my dad died, I decided I would go before my health prevented me from going. In this way, we both went, me in body & my dad with my memories of him.

It was a place that I think should be on everyone's bucket list, a supremely spiritual place that will enrich the lives of anyone who goes there. A place that I can now cross off of my bucket list.   My trip to Machu Picchu was the reason for my   vacation to Peru & the day of my visit, I was very excited.

We left our coach a fair distance from Machu Picchu & travelled by train to the base station. We took a small coach to the visitor centre at the top of the mountain. We were taken on a guided tour of Machu Picchu & given some time to explore ourselves. The highlight for me was getting to the point on the mountain that is always shown on postcards & travel programs on television. Here I posed for a photograph & thought of my dad, I hoped that he was looking down on me & I believe through me he did finally get to visit this mystical place.
