When William Joseph Higgs was born in 1897 in Wedmore, Somerset, England, his father, William, was 41 and his mother, Charlotte, was 36. He had three brothers and five sisters. He died on June 7, 1917, in France at the age of 20 and was buried in Héninel, Pas-de-Calais, France.
