I have been a Hobbit and Lord of the Rings fan since I first played the game on my cousin's ZX81 computer and then read the book The Hobbit way back in 1981. A few years later, I read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I think that the films of the books have been my most-watched films as well. I have now added visiting Hobbiton to my bucket list of things to do before I die.
Hobbiton in the books and the films.
In J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit," Hobbiton is a village in the Shire, a region inhabited by hobbits. It's described as a peaceful, rural area with rolling hills, lush greenery, and cosy hobbit-holes.
Bag End.
Bag End is where Bilbo and Frodo Baggins lived, on a hill overlooking Hobbiton.
Hobbiton in New Zealand.
Hobbiton in New Zealand is a real-life movie set located on a farm near Matamata. It was created for Peter Jackson's film adaptations of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". Visitors can take guided tours of the set, exploring the hobbit-holes, the Party Tree, and the Green Dragon Inn.
The set is meticulously maintained to look exactly as it did in the films, with lush gardens and detailed props. Visitors can enjoy a drink at the fully functional Green Dragon Inn, just like the hobbits.
Hobbiton in New Zealand offers fans a chance to step into the world of Middle-earth and experience the magic of Tolkien's creation firsthand. It's a must-visit destination for any "Lord of the Rings" enthusiast.
I want to be able to take a tour of Hobbiton in New Zealand. I imagine myself sitting in the Green Dragon Pub, having a drink or looking inside some of the Hobbit Holes.
