24 February 2025

Today, I was supposed to explore places in and around Jaipur, including the Amer Fort aka Amber Fort.

Unfortunately for me, when I woke up this morning, I felt very ill. I had spent the night running to the bathroom. I had been hit by food poisoning, probably caused by the meal I had in Delhi as we left the city yesterday. I didn't know whether to sit on the toilet or lean over it as I was sick and suffering from diarrhoea. I was throwing up so badly that I hurt my ribs and had to take painkillers for the pain in my ribs as well.

I messaged our guide, Digamber and told him that I would not join the rest of the party today as they toured Jaipur. In the evening, I messaged Digamber to tell him I wouldn't make dinner and how bad I had been. He did reply, asking me if I had any medicine, but when I told him I didn't, the only reply I got from him was to make sure my case was outside my room by 7 am tomorrow to be collected for our 8 am departure. I was very disappointed that at no time during the day did he check on me and apparently hadn't told anyone else that I was ill.

Amer Fort.

Amer Fort is a magnificent Palace located in Amer, Rajasthan, near Jaipur. The fort is a stunning example of Rajput architecture influenced by the Mughal style. It is constructed of red sandstone and marble, featuring large ramparts, a series of gates, and cobbled paths. It was built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I. The fort served as the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. Amer Fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013 as part of the Hill Forts of Rajasthan.

Sankotra Haveli.

The tour stopped at the Sankotra Haveli for lunch today. I stayed in bed and slept.

City Palace.

The City Palace in Jaipur is a stunning blend of Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural styles. Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II between 1729 and 1732, it served as the administrative and ceremonial seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur.

I visited the bathroom several times and threw up a lot while the tour visited the palace.

 Ramada by Wyndham, Jaipur.

The hotel for my stay in Jaipur tonight was the Ramada Jaipur.

Address: Govind Marg, Raja Park, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302004.
