The Mediterranean Sea from the Costa Diadema.

Today, I woke up at sea, sailing across the Mediterranean.

I didn't feel well when I woke up this morning and didn't bother going down for breakfast. By 10 am, I was feeling very unwell. I was dehydrated and feeling a bit dizzy, so I decided I had better go and see the ships, Doctor. I made my way down to the hospital on deck 0 and waited to see the Doctor. A beautiful nurse took all my details, and after about 20 minutes, I was led to see a Doctor. Both the nurse and the Doctor spoke excellent English. After asking me about my medical history, checking my blood pressure temperature and doing a physical examination of me, they took me into a treatment room. I was laid on a hospital bed, and after a few attempts at finding a vein, the nurse connected an intravenous drip into my left hand. I was told it was an electrolyte mixture to rehydrate my body. Whatever the mixture was, it worked quickly and within minutes, my mouth felt less dry, and I felt a little bit better. After an hour, the nurse removed the empty drip, and the Doctor told me I could leave but that I was not to take in any alcohol, fruit juice, milk, cream, dairy products or basically any food that tasted good.

I spent most of the day taking in water to rehydrate, walking around the ship, watching people or sleeping in my cabin.

This evening, I went to dinner with Gail, but I could only eat a plain spaghetti bolognese. When we left, we went to listen to one of the bands in the Teadora lounge, but I could only drink a peach tea. I went to my cabin early and went to bed.
