Ranthambore is a renowned national park located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, India. It's one of the largest and most famous national parks in the country, known for its rich wildlife and historical significance. Today, I joined an early morning safari to experience the wildlife and to see if I could spot a tiger.

Ranthambore Fort.

Ranthambore Fort is a historic fortress located within the Ranthambore National Park, near the city of Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. The fort is believed to have been built during the 5th century by the Yadava ruler Maharaja Jayant. It has witnessed numerous battles and has been ruled by various dynasties, including the Chauhans, Delhi Sultanate, and Mughals. The fort is strategically located on a hill, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding national park. It was a significant stronghold due to its elevated position and formidable defences.

The fort houses several temples, including the famous Ganesha Temple. In 2013, Ranthambore Fort, along with five other forts of Rajasthan, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan.

I had booked an optional escorted tour to the Ranthambore Fort, but our tour guide advised me that it would be too much for me to do, so I took his advice and didn't go on the trip to the fort.
