These are my journal entries for the year 2024. I was able to manage two long-haul travel adventures, one on a cruise around Hawaii and Alaska and the second on an escorted coach trip around Japan. I was also lucky enough to go to Marrakech in Morocco for a short break. I crossed a few things off my bucket list, such as visiting Japan, visiting Hawaii, and going whale watching.
I saw singer Tom Jones live in Murcia. I spent time with good friends, and I ate out many times. I went to England to see my sister get married and spent time with a few old friends in England while there. I did all of this while managing to continue to research my family tree.
There were some sad times when friends or relatives passed away, but I guess as I get older, this will happen more often. I was ill a few times but recovered by resting and doing as the doctor told me. I have finally realised that I can no longer keep pushing myself to do as much as I used to or want to without having to rest for more prolonged periods afterwards. With age comes wisdom, but also with age comes a lousy memory, which makes me forget what wisdom has taught me, and my body keeps reminding me.
Week 16 of 2024 started in Los Alcazares and finished with me travelling to Madrid by train and then onwards to Amsterdam, Los Angeles and Honolulu by plane before joining my cruise ship next week.
Week 15 of 2024 started with my friend's daughter's birthday meal and finished with me stuck to the TV watching golf, football and travel programs in my pyjamas.
During week 14 of 2024, apart from meeting Martin on Monday and getting my reading glasses repaired for nothing, the highlight of my week was watching the two Arsenal games.
During week 13 of 2024, I ate an excellent meal with friends at Thai Aroi. I met friends on Tuesday and mostly spent the rest of the week indoors.
During week 12 of 2024, I met Frouk and Reinder for dinner one day and George and Yvonne for drinks and tapas another day.
The 11th week of 2024 started with a busy day on Monday. My worry over my flight for my upcoming cruise was put at ease, and I saw my friend Martin for a drink on his birthday before hearing my friend DeeAna sing at a bar in Orihuela.
In week 10 of 2024, I watched Arsenal win two games and go top of the Premier League. I had lots of deliveries, did lots of work and had some bad news about my flights for my cruise in April.
During week 9 of 2024, I had lunch with my friend Jim several times. I had coffee at the local bar/restaurant with my neighbour Liz, and I got some shopping for my next holiday.
In week 8 of 2024, I sorted through photos on my computer. I booked a behind-the-scenes tour of the NCL Spirit for when I am on it in a few months and although I didn't venture far from my apartment, I did manage to see a few friends.
Week 7 of 2024 was quiet, allowing me to do a lot of work on my website and finally start sorting out my thousands of photos into a filing system on my computer. It will help me find the photos I'm looking for.
Week 6 of 2024 was spent entirely in Los Alcazares, mainly in my warm apartment. I purchased some thermal clothing for my trip to Alaska, did lots of work on my website and repotted some plants around my apartment.
Week 5 of 2024 started slowly, waiting for a delivery, but it soon got exciting when I booked my next adventure. I hadn't planned to do anything, but I still went out to eat on four different occasions.
During week 4 of 2024, I reached the ripe old age of 57, my baked bean birthday. I was cold most of the week, which is strange because the cold I have had for months has started to go.
At the start of this week, I went to the office to work on Monday, but I stayed home most of the week apart from going there. My cold has been getting better, but I woke up in a lot of pain on Sunday.
In week 2 of 2024, I finally started to get over the cold I have had since the beginning of December last year. I spent most of the week at home but did go to see FC Cartagena play football on Sunday.
Week 1 of 2024, started very quietly and I stayed at home until going to see Cartagena vs Valencia in the Copa del Rey in Cartagena with my friends, Paul and Jim.
