Week 19 of 2024 started in Ketchikan, Alaska and ended in Los Alcazares, Murcia, Spain, after a tiring week and lots of travelling.
Monday, 6th May.
This morning, I woke up in Ketchikan, Alaska, and took an escorted tour of the Tongass National Forest.
Tuesday, 7th May.
Today was my last day onboard the NCL Spirit as it sailed towards Vancouver in Canada.
Wednesday, 8th May.
Today, I arrived in Vancouver, Canada. I left the NCL Spirit and started my journey home to Los Alcazares.
Thursday, 9th May.
I arrived back in Madrid, Spain today. I felt tired after the long journey from Canada ready for some rest.
Friday, 10th May.
I woke up early in Madrid today before starting my journey home to Los Alcazares.
Saturday, 11th May.
Because I had gone to sleep so early yesterday and my body clock still hadn't reset itself, I woke up at about 1 am today. Unable to get back to sleep, I got up and put some dirty washing from my holiday to wash. I got myself a coffee and cereal before sitting at my computer to work on my website.
I had to make a few updates to the administration side of my website before I could carry out any other work. Once I had updated the site, I indexed some of its pages on Google Search before beginning to catch up with my journal entries for the last 3 weeks and started adding details of my trip on the NCL Spirit cruise section of the site.
I fell asleep in my armchair this afternoon and slept for about 5 hours before I went to bed early. All the travelling through time zones earlier in the week had begun to catch up with me.
Sunday, 12th May.
I slept well last night and woke up around 9 am. Unfortunately I seem to have got a chesty cough from somewhere. I always seem to feel like shit after long-distance travel and nearly always get a cough bug or both. I guess that's just the joys of my many travel experiences.
I went to Buena Vista restaurant for breakfast and a coffee at about 9:30 am. I met my friend Lisa there and sat chatting about my holiday and places we would like to go. We both decided that Marrakech would be a great place to go as the flights there were so cheap. After chatting with Lisa, I returned to my apartment to wash more clothes from my holiday.
This afternoon, I watched the Manchester United vs Arsenal game on TV. I didn't think Arsenal played well at all, but they did at least win 0-1 to take them back to the top of the Premier League, albeit with Manchester City having a game in hand.
After the game, I received a message from Lisa telling me that flights to Marrakech were cheap, and after a bit of discussion, we decided to go, and we booked some flights for us to go there in June. I now had something to look forward to again, there is no stopping me when it comes to travel.
When I went to bed today I fell asleep immediately. The jet lag had still not left me, and the excitement of planning a new trip after returning from the last one only this week meant I was exhausted.
