Short Trips

These articles and blogs all relate to short trips I have been on or plan to go on. These could be for a half day, a couple of days a long weekend or even to an event show or concert.

  • Aguilas Carnival

At the start of the year in 2018, whilst taking part in a local quiz at La Zona mini-golf some of my friends asked me if I would like to go & see the Aguilas Carnival in February.

  • Algar Waterfalls

Last week my friend Diane was telling me about a trip she planned on going on, to see the Algar Waterfalls. By the time we parted company, she had convinced me it would be a good day out and booked an extra place for me.

  • Amsterdam weekend.

In 2004 my friend Martin was 40 years old and for his birthday he decided he wanted to go to Amsterdam for a long weekend. Originally, six of us should have been going, but this soon became 3, with his friends dropping out because of pressure from wives and girlfriends.

  • Bob Dylan in Alicante.

I like Bob Dylan's music & when I saw he was appearing in Alicante I decided to get a ticket & go to see him in concert. I may not ever get the chance again to see this poet, musician & songwriter.

  • Bodega Tour

I saw this trip advertised on Facebook, and as I have decided to try doing many more day trips I booked this one up. It included the coach trip, breakfast, a tour of the Bodega, a four-course meal with wine, and then a visit to the village of Alcala del Jucar.

  • Camels, Quad bikes and dinner.

Today, I ventured into the desert for a camel ride, quad bike ride and meal with a show. Today was the highlight of my trip. I had a fantastic time.

  • Cordoba Patio Festival.

I saw pictures of the Cordoba Patio Festival and decided to go and see it in 2022. I like Cordoba, having been there before for the Flamenco Festival 2016.

  • Disney Day 2017.

At the start of 2017, I stayed at my apartment in Davenport, Florida, USA. I had rented it out previously and had to clear it up after the people renting it had left and made a mess of it, making it difficult to sell. I decided to visit

  • Emirates Stadium Trip.

My friend Derek had very kindly got his wife a tour of the Emirates Stadium for her to go & see the hallowed turf. He had even managed to get the legendary Charlie George to be the tour guide.

  • Exploring Marrakech.

Today, we explored Marrakech, visiting places in and around the medina, but we started the day at the Jardin Majorelle and Yves Saint Laurent Memoriam.

  • Flamenco festival in Cordoba.

When I got my health and travel insurance sorted out after moving to Spain, I decided to go away for a short break. After scouring the internet for somewhere to go for a couple of days, I found a 3-day 2-night break to see the 'White Night of Flamenco', which is in Cordoba and

  • Gibraltar.

Whilst living in Spain my mum used to come & frequently stay with me for a while. On one such occasion between Christmas 2005 & New Year 2006, I had an electric problem. I contacted an electrician about rewiring the whole house & he said he could do it immediately but that it would

  • Hot air baloon flight.

Today, we went on a hot air balloon flight over the desert before exploring Marrakech on foot.

  • La Union Mine Tour.

My ancestors in Wales had been miners and I have always been interested in what they had to go through as miners. The conditions they had worked in, in Wales, would have been different, but I would get an idea of what they went through after visiting a local mine in La Union, Murcia.

  • Marrakech.

Today, I flew to Marrakech for my short stay in the Moroccan city.

  • Murcia Spring Festival.

I had seen adverts for the Murcia Spring Festival for a few years & this year I decided to go along & see it.

  • Return from Marrakech.

Today, we left Marrakech, Morocco, to return home to Los Alcazares, Spain.

  • Rod Stewart in Murcia.

I had seen an advert saying that Rod Stewart was performing at the Bullring in Murcia & I got myself a ticket to go & see him. I decided to go to Murcia earlier in the day, have a look around, see the show, stay overnight in Murcia & go home the next day.

  • Rome 2003.

In 2003 I went to Rome with my friend Paul Dunne for a long weekend trip. I had never been to Italy before and was looking forward to spending time in Italy's capital city, Rome.

  • Segura River rafting.

My friends Bernice & Angelia said they were going river rafting on the Segura river & asked me if I wanted to go. I had been before with my friend Mick & decided to go again as it is great fun. We were joined by other friends from Los Alcázares & the
