  • Jim Quillen.

    I met Jim Quillen on a tour of Alcatraz in San Francisco in about 1992. I had gone on one of the self-guided tours where you are given a headset with a narrated talk of the island and can do the tour at your speed.

  • Las Vegas, Nevada.

    While staying in Las Vegas, Nevada, I stayed at the Flamingo Hotel. I have been to Las Vegas a few times previously and have seen most of the tourist sites, and I have stayed in lots of different hotels.

    While living in Florida, I met Mickey Spillane in a downtown restaurant in Orlando.

  • Mission San Juan Capistrano.

    I went to Mission San Juan Capistrano with my mum and dad as a teenager, and I loved the gardens and the bells on the walls.

  • Mission San Xavier del Bac.

    I enjoyed walking around the San Xavier del Bac Mission and its grounds; it was very interesting.

  • Monument Valley.

    I flew over Monument Valley when I took a sightseeing flight on a De Havilland Canada aeroplane as part of my holiday in 2011. The people I was going with boarded the small aircraft for the flight in which everyone had a window seat.

  • Mount Rushmore.

    The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota.

  • New Orleans.

    I toured New Orleans on various sightseeing trips, including a coach tour, a Segway tour, and just walking around with my Uncle Dave.

  • New York.

    When I booked my Southern States trip, I added an extra few days to the tour to spend a few days looking around New York before flying home.

  • Orlando 2019.

    In 2019, I sold one of my apartments in Florida and looked at the cheapest way to send money back to invest in my pension fund. Flying to America turned out to be cheaper than wiring the money.

    While I was at home watching the movie Karate Kid, I remembered meeting Pat Morita in Los Angeles, California.

    When I lived in Orlando, I went to see Rod Stewart at the Orlando Arena, and I spent the evening with his wife, Rachel Hunter.

    In the mid-1980s, I stayed in Los Angeles and went to Universal Studios for the day. When I got there, I met Renate Blauel and spent a morning with her on a backlot tour.

  • Ride a Segway.

    I think the first time I saw a Segway was on television. It was a policeman riding one somewhere, and I thought straight away that I had to have a go on one. I have now crossed riding a Segway off my bucket list.

    As a young child, like many others, I always wanted to be an astronaut. As this seemed out of my reach, I decided to go to Kennedy Space Centre in Florida and see a live rocket launch. I have done this many times and have crossed it off my bucket
