Sailing to Vancouver on NCL Spirit: My Final Day at Sea.

A quiet sea day of acupuncture, Pina Coladas, theatre shows, and packing for home as the NCL Spirit carried me toward Vancouver.

A Final Day On The NCL.

Today was my final full day onboard the NCL Spirit as we made our way toward Vancouver. After yesterday’s exhausting march through the Tongass National Forest, I desperately needed a quiet day. My legs were aching and badly swollen, so I took things slowly.

After a shower, I headed to the spa for my last acupuncture session. The acupuncturist worked on me for an hour, placing more than forty needles in various points and attaching electrotherapy leads to several of them. He increased the current until my muscles twitched, trying to stimulate my body’s natural healing response. As always, the treatment eased the pain in my knee and leg, at least for a while.

The rest of the day was wonderfully lazy. I wandered the ship looking for quiet corners, which were surprisingly hard to find, and spent most of my time reading my Kindle and drinking Pina Coladas. In the evening, I had my final meal onboard before heading to the Stardust Theatre for the last show of the cruise. After the performance, the entertainment team introduced many of the ship’s officers and crew, which was a nice touch.

I finished the night listening to the pianist in the bar above the atrium, enjoying a couple more cocktails before returning to my cabin for an early night. I packed my suitcase, left it outside the door for collection, and made sure my carry‑on bag had everything I needed for the journey home. After losing my luggage on the way to Hawaii, I wasn’t taking any chances this time.
