New Delhi airport.
New Delhi airport.

Today, we left Varanasi and flew to Delhi.

We left our hotel by coach and were taken to the airport for our flight back to Delhi. The journey and flight must have been relatively uneventful because I have no memory of it. After yesterday's long day, I was probably still tired and slept on the coach to the airport.

Delhi.

After landing at Delhi, we boarded the coach and were driven to our hotel for the evening. I do remember that on the way from the airport to the hotel, there was a large traffic jam on the road, and we were right behind an accident that blocked the two lanes of the dual carriageway we were on. It appeared that one car had driven into the back of another just in front of our coach and blocked the road. After waiting for a while, our driver and our tour guide got out of the coach to take a look. I could see the cars in front of us from my seat on the coach. What I didn't see was the driver of the car that had been hit from behind, who had fled the scene. It was all very suspicious. Why would someone who was not at fault for the accident flee? I wondered if they were drunk, under the influence of drugs or if maybe the car was stolen; I would never find out. Our driver and guide talked to other drivers of vehicles near us, and after a while, they physically moved the car over so that the coach and other vehicles could get past it.

We were soon on our way again and at the hotel for the night.

Pride Plaza Hotel Aerocity.

The Pride Plaza Hotel was pretty close to the airport, and when we arrived, our tour guide queued up to check everybody in and get all our keys for our rooms. It took quite a while, but I sat down in the large lobby and waited. After we all had our room keys, we went to our rooms to rest and get ready for our evening meal and to have a drink.

We met in the hotel bar this evening before lunch. Some of the ladies were dressed in the beautiful dresses they had bought on our tour of India. It was to be our last night when we were all together because some would be leaving tomorrow, and others, like me, would be continuing to go to Amritsar for a couple of days. After eating our evening meal at the hotel restaurant buffet, we all went to the hotel bar and sat there.

We chatted and enjoyed each other's company for a while as we enjoyed a cocktail. We had made a collection for Digamber, our guide, and Donna, one of my companions on the tour, made a speech to thank him for everything he had done and for looking after us, before presenting him with the money we had collected for him.

We had another day of travel tomorrow, and I didn't stop in the bar long before going to my room to get some sleep.
